Orator
Mobile public speaking practice app (In development)
Orator is a React Native mobile app for anyone who wants to get better at speaking in public. Users sign in, upload speech documents to their personal library, preview and edit text-based scripts in-app, and navigate a set of practice modules — from exercises and techniques to timed rehearsal and tongue-twister leaderboards. A custom animated navbar and mascot-led UI keep the experience approachable rather than intimidating.
What it does
Orator is a mobile app that helps people build confidence and improve how they speak. It brings speech practice into one place — upload your scripts, work through guided exercises, and track progress — with a friendly, mascot-led interface aimed at students, professionals, and anyone who wants to get better at presenting.
Users can:
- Sign in or create an account — email/password auth with profile management (name, username, sign out)
- Browse practice spaces — a dashboard of card-based entry points for each training area
- Manage their speeches — upload documents (PDF, DOCX, TXT, RTF), rename them inline, and open a preview
- Preview and edit scripts — read text-based speeches in-app and save edits back to cloud storage
- Navigate practice modules — speech exercises, techniques, sentence flow, timed practice, and tongue-twister leaderboards (scaffolded for future content)
- Move quickly between sections — a custom animated bottom nav with blur, scroll-aware hide/show, and quick links to core areas
The core idea is practice over performance anxiety: speaking skills improve with repetition, structure, and a low-pressure space to rehearse — not by staring at a blank page or juggling files across apps.
